Stonewall 25th Anniversary 1994
Gallery 1 and Introduction
What can be said about Stonewall;
there's so much. The Stonewall riots were the start of the fight
for gay rights. The twenty-fifth anniversary was a gathering of
some of the best-looking men I have ever witnessed. There were
men there from all over the world as well as the United States.
I once heard a joke about two men standing on a sidewalk in New
York and one said to the other, "They ought to take all those
damned faggots and put 'em on an island somewhere." A gay
passerby overheard, stopped, and said, "They have. It's called `Manhattan!'"
My host for the weekend commented that New York had never looked
so good. I don't know how it usually is, but I was certainly happy.
